Our Footprint

As users of nature’s goodness, we work hard to ensure our impact on the planet is minimal. Beginning with our accidental discovery of the wonders of Macrocystis Pyrifera back in the late 1980s, our use of the plant has come from naturally occurring seaweed on our existing marine farm.

Macrocystis Pyrifera is one of Earth’s fastest-growing plants, capable of growing up to 60cm a day and reaching more than 45 metres in length in one growing season. It regenerates quickly, creating large kelp forests in the oceans in which it lives.

Following harvest, our seaweed has only a short journey to travel first by boat, then road, to our processing plant in Blenheim, a little over 30km from the marine farm.

Packaging and Delivery
Once processed, our products are held in bulk storage until being delivered to our clients. We offer delivery in any quantity from 20 litres, in recycled containers, to 2000 litres using a tanker truck which gives us the ability to transport product without packaging, directly to storage pods on your property. We can provide you with 1000 litre recycled storage pods or 200 litre barrels. Alternatively, we can fill your own containers.

New to Tory Channel Natural Kelp? We can help with providing storage tanks for your Kelp Tea. We also provide harvest and ferment details with each delivery or purchase. Order now or get in touch for a quote.

Reusing and Recycling
Recycling is a hugely important part of our company ethos. We strive to reduce waste and minimise the carbon footprint of our products and operations, as well as those of our end users.

Along with reusing storage pods wherever possible, over time we’ve also researched uses for our waste products and are proud to have achieved a near-100% re-use of waste material in other products. Ask us for details.

Water Quality
Our marine farm is the Tory Channel water testing site for the Marlborough Shellfish Quality Programme and undergoes weekly testing for biotoxins.
